School of Health Professions HOPE Program Fund

The Rutgers H.O.P.E. clinic is a free primary care clinic run in partnership with local community organizations that seeks to address the primary healthcare needs of underserved populations and promote the development of socially responsible, humanistic healthcare providers.

As part of Rutgers Giving Days (March 12-13, 2025) the first $6,000 raised will be matched dollar for dollar—$5,000 by Kirk Schwenkler, son of the late Joseph Schwenkler, MD, founder of the HOPE Clinic, and $1,000 by Lori Palfreyman, DHSc, PA-C, LC '96 SHP '99.

Donations will be used to support a variety of clinical services provided to our patients at no cost to them. Here are some examples of what your support enables us to provide to our uninsured patients:

  • $35: Cost of 2 laboratory tests at the clinic for someone with high blood pressure or diabetes
  • $90: One office visit for an uninsured patient
  • $100: Cover all the routine annual testing a person with diabetes needs for one year
  • $250 Interpretation services for 10 patient encounters
