In Florence, Sandra flourished while enjoying the beauty of international living. That year afforded her the opportunity to develop a keen self-awareness and better defined her life’s aspirations. That is what Study Abroad does. It allows for profound academic and personal growth and understanding like no other time in a student’s life.
At age 36 Sandra was diagnosed with Orbital Melanoma. At 37 she lost her battle. Those of us who enjoyed the honor of Sandra’s presence in our lives can certainly recall her intelligence, creativity, beauty, and fun-loving nature. Her deep love for Italy and Italian culture had no bounds.
With this Scholarship we honor the memory of Sandra while providing financial assistance to students who otherwise may not have the opportunity to study abroad. We strive to continue to promote growth, a broadened perspective, and a sense of global citizenry for a deserving Rutgers student. Let us sustain Sandra’s values and interests while simultaneously supporting future students.
At this 25th Anniversary of Sandra’s passing, we ask for your support as we continue to work toward our goal of an Endowed Fund (50K) and aiding students in perpetuity.
