Russian and East European Lang. & Lit. is the hub for the study of Eastern Europe at Rutgers. Your donation will bring new student-facing events to campus, such as film screenings and invited lectures, as well as protect Russian and Polish language at this time of nationwide cuts to the humanities.
In 2025-2026, support from donors like you allowed REELL to continue our Friday noon film-and-lunch series with guests, such as Lisa Kheresh (Harvard). In October, Bradley Gorski (Georgetown) gave a talk about impact of the capitalist 1990s on Russian fiction. In January, students and alums met film director Vasilisa Kuzmina, who screened her Nika (2022, SXSW Best Breakout Role). In March, the poet Inna Krasnoper came to read her work. We are finishing the year with a Russian-German-History symposium on Andrei Platonov. And, we’re printing student-designed t-shirts and paying the Dobro Slovo Honors Society initiation fee for all eligible students!
Next year, we will expand our list of guest presenters for film screenings and bring more exciting speakers to campus. Don’t be a stranger – attend our events!
