More than 3,700 students have benefited from the RFS program so far. Scholars are selected based on their academic promise and their potential to invest in themselves for the betterment of their future, families, and communities. During the five-year pre-college program, students spend time on a Rutgers University campus over the summer and continue to engage in programming and work with mentors throughout the school year. Students who successfully complete the five-year pre-college program and choose to attend Rutgers receive a tuition assistance scholarship in addition to their financial aid. Scholars continue to receive mentoring, career development and experiential learning opportunities once they are enrolled in college.
RFS participants graduate from high school and attend college at higher rates than their peers. This success is made possible by generous gifts from alumni, friends, corporations, and philanthropic foundations.
