A leader and innovator in behavioral health, Dr. Peplau helped bring greater recognition to the psychological needs of patients and shaped the practice of nursing through her groundbreaking work in interpersonal relations.
Dr. Peplau served as Professor and Director of the Graduate Program in Nursing at Rutgers University from 1954 until her retirement in 1974, when she became Professor Emeritus. Her contributions to nursing education, practice, and scholarship continue to influence generations of nurses.
