Rutgers is leading the nation in purposeful, strategic medical education grounded in the principles of health equity, cultural competence, and compassion. Taking this exceptionalism to the next level, the future RSM will be one of the largest, leading medical schools in the country and establish Rutgers as a locus of cutting-edge biomedical and health sciences education. Unfortunately, financial barriers, including the new federal loan limitations, keep many promising students from considering a career in medicine. Nationally, students are struggling to afford food, rent, and education. One study found that 49% of graduate students are facing housing insecurity, 39% suffer from food insecurity, and 17% are experiencing homelessness.

Funding scholarships will provide a life-changing advantage, enabling more students to realize their dreams of attending medical school, focus on primary care or pediatrics as their first choice, and remain in New Jersey upon graduation.
