The Naomi Stumme Orsay Nursing Scholarship was established in memory of a nurse whose warmth, empathy, and unwavering commitment to her patients made a lasting difference. Naomi discovered her passion for nursing in the 1950s, completing her nursing diploma and BSN, and working in a hospital. Raising five children meant taking some time away, but once a nurse, always a nurse. After adding a master’s degree in social work to her list of achievements, she rounded out her career as an oncology nurse specializing in pain management. As she cared for patients and their families with extraordinary compassion throughout every stage of the cancer journey, she often said, “I get so much more than I give.” Through this scholarship, Naomi's family will support advanced practice nurses as they answer their own calling to care for others with the same compassion that defined Naomi's career.
