Joan Marter Scholarship
In recognition of Dr. Joan Marter, Board of Governors Distinguished Professor Emerita, the Department of Art History will award the Joan Marter Scholarship annually, with preference given for support of an internship with or research at an art museum. Preference will be given to Art History graduate students, but undergraduates are also eligible.

In 2026, a group of Dr. Marter's former doctoral students collaborated to establish this scholarship in honor of her outstanding contribution to Art History education at Rutgers, especially her dedication to mentoring future leaders of art museums. The committee to select the awardee shall be comprised of full-time members of the Art History faculty.
