For more than 30 years, Dr. Heinrich served as associate dean for admissions at NJMS. He mentored students, transformed medical education, and led with deep compassion. He pioneered early clinical exposure and personally called every newly accepted student, often on weekends and holidays, including Christmas Day. “Medical school is a family activity,” he once said. “Students need support.” His belief in personal connection and human-centered medicine shaped generations of NJMS graduates. In honor of Dr. Heinrich’s legacy and the values he instilled in our community, the George F. Heinrich, MD Memorial Scholarship Fund will help future students pursue medicine with the same compassion, commitment to equity, and dedication to service that Dr. Heinrich exemplified.
