At CURE, research and community work go hand-in-hand.
We see community-engagement not as service, but as part of a wider movement for justice. A movement which requires research that has local impact and academic rigor, which is why we partner in our research with community organizations such as Saint Joseph's Carpenter Society, One Camden, Mighty Writers, and others. This idea is embodied by our growing Community First Initiative which supports studies of social movements, educational equity, youth participation, and affordable housing; and our Community First Fellows program which provides students support and training to become the next generation of community-engaged scholars.
