Details
For over 250 years, Classics has been a popular Humanities department at Rutgers that offers blockbuster courses in ancient Mediterranean civilization, as well as smaller courses in Ancient Greek and Latin. Our outstanding faculty are highly rated instructors, all with active research agendas. We take pride in nurturing our Classics majors and minors: these talented students shine in our rigorous curriculum and go on to pursue successful careers in all fields. We encourage them to expand their learning beyond the Rutgers campus through study abroad opportunities. Popular options are summer schools at the American School of Classical Studies at Athens and the American Academy in Rome, as well as a season at Rutgers’ own Field School.
